Shuzenkai Nursery School has a long
history of over a half century of being a part
of the local community.
Some families have continued to use our school for over
three generations, and we also see children who have gradu-
ated stop by to play, which brightens our hearts.
We at Shuzenkai Nursery School truly understand our children
and the parents and guardians who work tirelessly to raise them
while going to their own jobs, and want to be a place they can
always turn to for support.
Together with staff who enjoy watching every child grow up
healthy and strong, we will continue to meet you with
smiles and fun and provide ever better care.
Children at Shuzenkai Nursery School
dress lightly and go barefoot year-
round. Making a habit of dressing lightly
allows childrento develop strong bodies while learning how to choose their own clothes.
Also, allowing children to spend time barefoot during early childhood, when the arch of the foot develops, stimulates the soles of their feet and helps prevent flat and splayed feet. It is also attributed with increasing mental activity and improving endurance and motor skills.
Through their surroundings and by
taking turns during group activities, we
nurture independence while encourag-
ing children to cooperate, show compas-
sion and express gratitude.
Taking turns during group activities also allows children to gain
a sense of time. In addition, playing cards and matching games
and mimicking the actions of the staff, let children naturally
learn about many other things, such as letters, numbers and
telling time.
An 833.03 m2 playground is used for
daily outdoors play as well as special
events such as Sports Day. The nursery sch-
ool room facing the playground has a large terrace, and is a
favorite spot for children to bask in the sun, read picture
books, and play with toys. Also, for classes with children under 3 years old, the terrace provides a safe cushioned flooring surface to help protect children from falls.
A safe environment where children of diff-
erent ages can be seen mingling naturally
has been created by arranging all nursery
school rooms on the first floor, allowing
children of similar ages to interact and enabling older children to effortlessly help younger children.
Children spend their days in a bright atmosphere created by
sunlight gently pouring in through the large windows in the
nursery school rooms. Also, all rooms are fully equipped with
aircon ditioning and floor heating.
A multi-purpose hall is used as an area for holding different
events, such as entrance and exit ceremonies and school
assemblies, and as an indoor exercise area where children can
play with infant toys and vaulting boxes.
Partitions in the hall can be removed, letting the space be used
in new ways.
Outside the hall is a large outdoor pool equipped with a sun shade.
Children love playing in the pool during the summer, and 4 and 5-year-olds are allowed to stay overnight and use it as an open air bath while moon gazing.
While our school is located in the heart of
the city, making it convenient for com-
muting, it is also close to many lush
green parks and cultural facilities. Chil-
dren have various opportunities to expe-
rience life outside the nursery school by taking walks in the
park, enjoying different events at the cultural center (such as
puppet shows, movies and music performances), and inter-
acting with the elderly at nursery homes.
We also have community activities at the school to support our
normal curriculum that children who have graduated and local
residents can participate in. These include opening the play-
ground once a month, hosting a summer festival and making
mochi rice cakes together.
